It was built by Queen Hatshepsut, who was regent for her stepson Thutmose III. The temple was to exalt the glory of Amun, who favored Hatshepsut and helped her become pharaoh by providing her a divine father in the person of Amun.

Your day will proceed with a visit to the Valley of the Kings to see some of the most famous tombs, including those of Tutankhamun and Ramses III. Finally, you will visit Colossi of Memnon, two giant stone statues of Amenhotep III that were moved to their current location in the 19th century CE.

After lunch at the River Nile cruises all inclusive, your excursion will continue with a visit to Esna. Overnight is on board.
