Sharm El Sheikh Museum South Sinai
The Sharm El Sheikh Museum is the first museum of Egyptian antiquities in South Sinai, highlighting the role played by Egyptian civilisation throughout the ages and the cultural integration between Egypt and other civilisations. In addition to the Egyptians' relationship with the surrounding environment, it is also considered a cultural centre and a meeting place for human civilisations as one of the main tourist destinations in the governorate.
The idea of establishing the museum began in 1999, with work on the project starting in 2003, but it was halted several times until 2017, and His Excellency the President of the Republic inaugurated it in 2020. The museum building consists of two floors with a collection of artefacts that reflect the origins and development of Egyptian civilisation and how the ancient Egyptians innovated in many fields, as well as shedding light on the Egyptian man and his behaviour towards the environment around him.
It also shows how to coexist with its creatures, which he revered and nurtured and from which he derived many different meanings in his journey through life, in addition to explaining Egypt's contributions as a meeting place of civilisations in creating bonds of communication and assimilating incoming cultures and establishing the idea of coexistence and acceptance of the other.
There are also exhibits of Sinai heritage, jewellery from the Muhammad Ali dynasty, funerary vessels, Roman baths, the Otherworld, and collections of cosmetics and perfume pots.
