It is the port of the century and is considered one of the most recent ports established using the B.O.T system. It is managed using the logistics centers system and is considered one of the giant national projects. It is also the result of organized planning and implementation of a very important stage in placing Egypt on the global maritime map.
It is the first comprehensive, integrated, and multi-purpose pivotal port and falls under the name of "third generation of ports" to serve import and export operations for general goods, dry bulk, and container handling. This machine has been outfitted with state-of-the-art technology.
The port is located on the western coast of the Gulf of Suez, covering an area of 22.3 square kilometers, and 43 kilometers from the city of Suez.

The importance of establishing Sokhna Port is due to achieving a set of goals, including establishing a new port according to the patterns of modern generations of ports that are characterised by plans and designs that achieve the highest operating efficiency, and that provide depths and standard specifications that enable them to receive new generations of ships of various sizes.
