Winter Palace Hotel in Luxor
It is the tallest and the most recognizable structure in Luxor and its resorts, as it has accommodated the greatest personalities of the 20th and the 21st centuries. The establishment was inaugurated in 1886, and the building was the brainchild of the English engineer J. Crusoe on behalf of Thomas Cook, who was responsible for the construction of the hotel in the Victorian style. This was the first hotel which Thomas Cook built in his entire life anywhere in the world.

The year was 1922, when Egyptologist Howard Carter went out on the balcony of the hotel and declared to the world that he had discovered the tomb of King Tutankhamun. Also in 1974 the hotel accommodated part of the sessions aimed at adjusting relations between President of Egypt Anwar Sadat and US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. The hotel hosted some of the sessions to improve Egyptian-American relations between Anwar Sadat President of Egypt and Secretary of State Henry Kissinger of America in the year nineteen seventy four.
