The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is located in the city of Fustat in Cairo, on an area of 33.5 acres. It is expected to include 50 thousand artifacts from various eras of ancient Egypt to contemporary history, telling the stages of the development of Egyptian civilization in addition to displaying the achievements of the Egyptian people up to the present time.

It also contains models, photographs, manuscripts, oil paintings, artistic masterpieces and antiquities from the Stone Age, Pharaonic, Greco-Roman, Coptic, Arab, Sudanese and modern civilizations. The museum site overlooks a natural lake, Lake Ain Al-Sira.
It has a set of storage facilities for the safekeeping of artefacts fitted with modern technology. The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is the first of its kind in Egypt and the Arab region. It is an all-embracing multiple civilization themed cultural complex that allows its visitors to make a boat trip in history and encounter various Egyptian civilizations one after the other.
The museum also contains vast spaces for temporary exhibitions, as well as a hall for research, education and research, and an exhibition that highlights the development of New Cairo. The museum is considered a place dedicated to hosting film screenings, conferences and lectures, as well as cultural activities directed at audiences at the local and international levels.
It is a forum for open dialogue and discussion to exchange experiences and ideas. It also includes a group of service, commercial, and recreational buildings, in addition to a research center for sciences related to ancient materials as well as restoration.
