
Aswan Airport
The airport opened its door in the Aswan Governorate, South of the Arab Republic of Egypt in 1960 AD after a proposal to set up the airport in 1956 was made by the National Production Council with an aim to satisfy the tourism traffic. It is internationally known by International Air Transport Association (IATA code) as (ASW) while it has (HESN) which represents International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO code). The airport covers an area of 3,100,000 square meters and primarily serves the Nubian region at south part of Arab Republic of Egypt
Aswan International Airport is fully equipped to serve passengers, by establishing a special passenger building containing 23 counters, capable of serving 1,800 passengers per hour, a baggage handling system, special parking spaces for aircraft called aprons, and corridors containing guidance signs, in addition to one runway with a length of 3,402 meters and a width of 45 meters.
