You will be accompanied by a qualified tour guide, along with a driver and a special vehicle, to one of the most breathtaking locations in Egypt—and indeed the world—the Sinai Desert. The journey from Cairo takes approximately five hours.
The Mount Sinai Sunrise Hiking Tour offers a unique experience among our Egypt hiking and trekking options. You’ll start with a sunset hike to the summit of Mount Moses, followed by a morning visit to the Monastery of Saint Catherine, one of the oldest monasteries globally, established in the 6th century by Empress Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine. Located in South Sinai, the monastery is 230 km from Sharm el-Sheikh. Nearby stands Mount Saint Catherine, Egypt's highest peak at 2,671 meters, and to the east, Mount Moses rises to 2,285 meters.
We will depart around midday from the Bedouin Guesthouse, taking a scenic route through a serene valley and passing through expansive olive groves. The path will then merge with the main visitor trail, offering an exceptional sunrise experience. Afterward, we will descend the mountain via the Stairs of Repentance, believed to have been carved by a priest to help atone for sins. We’ll return to the camp for an overnight stay and dinner.
The following morning, we will visit the Monastery of Saint Catherine to explore this historic site dedicated to Saint Catherine, a revered martyr of Alexandria.
After completing our hiking and exploration, we’ll return to Cairo.
