You'll meet your private tour guide, who will accompany you and the driver in a private car to one of the most breathtaking places in Egypt, and indeed the world—the Sinai desert. The journey from Cairo takes about 5 hours.
The Mount Sinai Sunrise Hiking Tour is one of the most incredible experiences in Egypt, offering a chance to watch the sunrise from the summit of Mount Moses. Afterward, in the morning, you'll visit the Monastery of Saint Catherine, one of the world's oldest monasteries, built in the 6th century by order of Empress Helen, mother of Emperor Constantine. Located in South Sinai, 230 km from Sharm el-Sheikh, the monastery sits next to Mount Saint Catherine, the highest mountain in Egypt at 2,671 meters, and to the east lies Mount Moses, standing at 2,285 meters.
We will begin our hike around 2:00 am from the Bedouin Guesthouse, taking a peaceful and serene back route through a tranquil valley, passing by large olive groves. The trail then connects with the main visitor's path, but the sunrise scenery will be an unforgettable experience. We'll descend the mountain via the Stairs of Repentance, a rocky canyon said to have been carved by a priest to help cleanse your sins as you descend. In the morning, you'll explore the Monastery of Saint Catherine, dedicated to Saint Catherine, one of Christianity's most revered martyrs from Alexandria.
After our Egypt hiking tour concludes, we'll take the vehicle and head back to Cairo.
