For our first day in Cairo, we suggest visiting the Giza Pyramids and the Egyptian Museum, which focus on ancient Egypt. The Giza Pyramids are the oldest man-made structures, over 4500 years old, epitomizing ancient Egyptian engineering and architecture at its best. The Giza Pyramids complex includes the Great Sphinx, Valley Temple, and Solar Boat Museum. Sphinx, a completely massive sculpture with the body of a lion and a human head, is the earliest known monumental sculpture, built in Egypt. Of the Valley temples in Giza, that of Khafre is the only one to have survived intact despite being the second temple built at the site. The Solar Boat Museum, which contains the oldest known vessel in the world believed to be used for the burial of King Khufu, serves as an illustration of burial practices in the ancients.
Hence, the next place on our schedule is the popular Egyptian Museum located in the capital city, Cairo, which is well known for containing one of the largest repositories of ancient Egyptian antiquities in the world. With more than 120,000 pieces exhibited, this museum is a real treasury of history and culture. Among the famous displays are the gold mask of King Tutankhamun, the mummified body of Pharaoh Ramses II, and the figure of Pharaoh Akhenaten.
In obtaining the Egypt Tour packages for the Giza Sphinx and Pyramids, there will be a short break for lunch. Eating at a local restaurant serving Egyptian food will prepare us well for the rest of the itinerary.
