After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, your Cairo Day Tours will continue with a visit to the Egyptian Museum, accompanied by your knowledgeable guide from Cairo Top Tours. Established in 1902, the museum houses over 120,000 artifacts, including magnificent statues of Egypt's great kings. Be sure to check out the impressive treasures of the golden King Tutankhamun.
Next, you'll make your way to the Citadel of Saladin, constructed by the famed Islamic leader Sultan Saladin to protect Cairo from Crusader forces. Inside the citadel, marvel at the beautiful alabaster mosque built about 200 years ago by King Mohamed Ali during Turkish rule.
Your Egyptologist will then lead you to Coptic Cairo, a historical stronghold for Christians before the Islamic conquest. It is said that Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary sought refuge here from King Herod. You'll visit the ancient Roman fortress of Babylon and the stunning Hanging Church, which dates back to the 3rd century. You'll also explore the Church of St. Sergius, home to a crypt where the Holy Family supposedly stayed for nearly three months. Your visit will also include the serene Ben Ezra Synagogue.
Afterward, you'll head to the Islamic district of Cairo to explore Khan El Khalili, the oldest bazaar in the Middle East, which has been a vibrant marketplace for over a thousand years.
At the end of the day, you'll be transferred back to your hotel for another night in Cairo.
