Start your day with a hearty buffet breakfast at the hotel, then meet your certified tour guide to kick off your 5 days in Cairo with a visit to the Saqqara Necropolis. You’ll be taken to this ancient burial site to explore the Step Pyramid complex of King Djoser, the tombs of the nobles, and the Pyramid of King Teti. Your guide will simplify Egyptian history and explain the basics of ancient Egyptian religion. King Djoser, a powerful ruler of the 3rd dynasty, had his Step Pyramid designed by Imhotep, the renowned architect and philosopher who was even worshipped posthumously. You'll also enter the tomb of Kagemni, son-in-law of King Teti of the 6th dynasty.
Next, you'll be transferred to the ancient city of Memphis to see artifacts from various periods of the pharaonic era, including the alabaster sphinx of Memphis and the colossal statue of King Ramses II.
Proceed to the Pyramids of Giza for a remarkable tour. Discover the three pyramids built by the 4th dynasty kings—Cheops, Chephren, and Mycerinus. Admire the grandeur of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, which was the tallest structure in the world for 4,500 years until the construction of Lincoln Cathedral in 1311 A.D.
View the pyramids from the high plateau and enjoy an optional one-hour camel ride around the Giza Pyramids, taking in stunning photos of the landscape. Continue your tour to see the Great Sphinx of Chephren, the mythical man-headed lion, and visit the Valley Temple (mummification temple) within Chephren's funeral complex, where your Egyptologist will explain the mummification process.
Enjoy a delicious lunch at a quality restaurant with views of the pyramids and the Sphinx.
After your tours in Cairo, you’ll be transferred back to the hotel for an overnight stay.
