Today, after enjoying breakfast at your hotel, we will visit one of Egypt's most renowned sites, the Great Pyramids of the Giza Plateau, located ten miles south of downtown Cairo on the outskirts of the city. These pyramids are among the few remaining wonders of the ancient world. The largest and oldest, the Great Pyramid of Cheops, dates back over 4,000 years. Khafre (Chephren) retains its original stone top, while the smallest, Menkaura (Mycerinus), completes the trio. Please note that entrance to the Pyramids can be arranged for an additional fee.
Nearby stands the enigmatic Sphinx, sculpted almost entirely from a single block of limestone and one of the most photographed ancient monuments globally. Your visit to the Great Pyramids of Giza promises to be a highlight of your Cairo tour.
Following this, our Cairo day tour continues to the Saqqara area, just 27 km southwest of Cairo. Upon arrival in Saqqara, we will explore the Step Pyramid, also known as the Djoser Pyramid. This pyramid holds significant historical importance as one of the earliest examples of pyramid architecture, marking the transition from simple mastabas to the iconic pyramid shape. It is also renowned as the world's first stone structure.
After Saqqara, we will journey to Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt since the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt. Here, you will discover the colossal statue of Ramses II and the impressive alabaster Sphinx. Following a delicious lunch at one of Cairo's esteemed restaurants, we will transfer you back to your hotel.
As an optional evening activity, you can enjoy a Cairo Nile Dinner Cruise, which includes transportation, dinner, and captivating performances featuring Belly Dancing and the Tanoura Dance Show.
