National Crunchy Taco Day

This is what I call the “Gringo Taco Day” as crunchy tacos were not a part of Mexican cuisine and the norm would be the soft corn tortillas. There are many, who take claim to the crunchy taco, but there is one who made it a household name.

Taco Bell’s founder Glen Bell is the reason for the fame of the fried corn tortilla taco shell and many taco chain restaurants started frying corn tortillas there after. Nowadays the culinary scene is more advanced as tocos are offered in trucks in various forms, however the good old gringo taco is still ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese base – just like mum used to prepare.

This day, I request that you try the gringo taco with hoisin duck filling served with cilantro, scallion, some pickled daikon and more varieties. Because it's what I call - Make the mundane end up being spectacular, today.
