Itinerary
Your knowledgeable Egyptologist, provided by Cairo Top Tours, will meet you at your hotel to begin your exciting day tour to the Suez Canal. Starting from any hotel in Cairo or Giza in the morning, you will be transported in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle for the approximately two-and-a-half-hour journey to Ismailia. This city, named after Egypt’s first king, Khedive Ismail, was central to the opening of the Suez Canal, one of modern Egypt's most impressive feats and a must-see on any Cairo itinerary.
Upon arrival in Ismailia, we will visit the Suez Canal, where you can relax with a warm drink while watching the majestic ships pass through this man-made marvel from a military club vantage point. Spanning 190 kilometers from the Red Sea’s Suez Governorate in the south to Port Said on the Mediterranean in the north, the canal is a crucial waterway, reducing the travel distance between Europe and Asia by tens of thousands of kilometers.
If allowed, we will take a boat across the canal to the Sinai Peninsula to visit the significant military site, "Tabbat al Shagara." This stronghold was once part of the Israeli defensive line during the 1973 Egypt-Israel war and was heroically captured by the Egyptian forces, marking a key victory in the conflict that ultimately led to peace through the Camp David Accords.
After this enriching experience, you'll be driven back to your hotel in Cairo, concluding your fascinating exploration of the Suez Canal.
