Historically, the area once had around 50 monasteries, though today only four have survived.

Your tour of the Wadi El Natrun monasteries will begin with a visit to Deir al-Paramus, the oldest and most secluded of the remaining four. You'll then move on to Deir Anba Bishoi, where the body of Saint Bishoi himself still rests.
