Petra, Mt. Nebo, Madaba, Shobak Castle, and the Dead Sea. We are heading to the Dead Sea this morning after leaving Petra. We will travel through the Heisha Mountains, making a first stop to explore the Shobak Crusader Castle from the 12th century. After traveling to Madaba, we visit St. George's Church, which has a stunning mosaic map of the Holy Land from the sixth century. This is the largest collection of ancient mosaics in the world. The next destination is Mount Nebo, where Moses first saw the Promised Land. On a clear day, you can see the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, Jericho, and even Jerusalem from here. The Dead Sea is the lowest point on Earth's surface, and we descend to its shores to end our day. You will have the chance this afternoon to take a dip in the unusually warm and incredibly buoyant mineral-rich waters. The Dead Sea, renowned for its curative powers and therapeutic qualities, is the world's oldest spa!
