As for Abydos is an archaeological city located in the far south of Egypt in the Balina district of Sohag Governorate. As the people of Sohag call it ‘the buried godmother’ as a metaphor for the abundance of antiquities, the entire city is based on a number of temples and museums, as it was a pilgrimage destination for ancient Egyptians.

The Temple of Abydos. Seti I Temple in Abydos was built by King Seti I of the 19th Dynasty, who died without completing the temple and was completed by his son, King Ramses II.
