Khufu was designed and built by Imhotep. Just behind this are the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, which measure 143 and 66 meters respectively.
In the center of the Pyramid of Khufu, just like the other two pyramids, there is a burial chamber. The builders must have fortified all these wonders against any intruders. It was further blocked with large stone slabs across the doors and concealed the entrances. A system of dead-end labyrinths was also constructed to prevent intruders from easily entering. Nonetheless, it did not stop looters from pillaging some valuables.
The King's Chamber is made of granite and measures 10 by 5 meters. These blocks are distributed over five levels that cover the chamber. On the upper level, Egyptologists discovered a relief vault, as well as stones arranged in a herringbone pattern. It is here that they also found the only inscription mentioning the attribution of the Pyramid of Giza to Pharaoh Khufu.
These granite block covers have a roof that rises around 20 meters. The pyramid's north and south faces are occupied by two ventilation shafts.
