Itinerary

By joining our Dendera and Abydos Tour from Luxor, discover the wonders of mystical ancient Egypt. The adventure begins with the experienced Cairo Top Tours guiding his guests from the hotel in Luxor back to ancient times through expertly crafted Egypt Day Tours and Luxor Excursions.

Your first leg will take you to Abydos, an ancient Egyptian holy site. Here, the burial of Osiris, the goddess of the underworld, is believed to have taken place in the Temple of Seti I. His son Ramses II later finished it. Some 135 km north of Luxor in Sohag Governorate stands this temple, a wonder in architecture, known for having some of the best-preserved wall reliefs in all of Egypt. Their walls present the most vivid depictions of the gods and pharaohs of ancient Egypt, narrating stories from the very early dynastic period, including the first and second dynasties, and the rich 19th dynasty of the New Kingdom era.

Walk through the chambers of Osiris Temple, whose scenes are painted wonderfully, voices from the past come alive before you. You will notice the Abydos King List that gives detailed information about seventy-six kings of Egypt in chronological order.

Onward to the Temple of Hathor at Dendera in a charming ambiance: a divine temple of the goddess of love, joy, music, and maternity. The temple is considered the largest in the Dendera temple complex and features an exotic entrance and intricate interiors covered with hieroglyphs and heavenly ceilings. Constructed 2000 years ago, this Ptolemaic temple contains a zodiac ceiling that deserves to be seen by everyone who wishes to learn about ancient astronomy.

The extraordinary carvings of the stars are depicted vividly, and hidden treasures and mysteries abound in the underground crypts. The Hathor Temple is not only famous for its artistic splendor, but it also serves as an insight into the religious and cultural practices of ancient Egypt.

You will, after a historical and architectural encounter, drive back to your Luxor hotel in comfort.

This tour is a unique time travel excursion and perfect for any history lover or cultural explorer who wishes to carefully examine the fascinating history of Egypt.
