Safari Tour to Colored Canyon and Mount Sinai from Sharm El Sheikh

Overview

In the heart of Sinai, where nature meets adventure, we set out to explore two of its most beautiful landmarks: The Canyon of Colors and Mount Moses. We start the day in the Canyon of Colors, where bright colors dance on the twisted rock walls, creating breathtaking landscapes that make walking along the narrow trails a magical and unforgettable experience.

The Colored Canyon is a labyrinth of yellow, purple, red and golden sandstone rocks, in some places 40 to 80 meters high. One of the natural wonders of the Taba Reserve in Sinai, the Colored Canyon owes its name to the shades of color that cover its walls, with streaks of mineral salts that draw lines on its stones.

Next we will embark on another unforgettable adventure to the Sinai Mountains. It is one of the most famous mountains in Sinai, visited by thousands of tourists; beautiful views of the surrounding mountain range can be seen from the top of the mountain, especially at sunrise and sunset, and is located near Mount Catalina (Mount Tor Sinai), where the monastery of St. Catherine is located, and the mountain is surrounded by a group of peaks of the southern mountains of Sinai.

Also, with us and during our visit to the Sinai Mountains, we will allow you to explore and see the monastery of St. Catherine, said to be the oldest in the world, which is a major tourist attraction, as it is visited by groups of tourists from all over the world. The monastery was built by order of Empress Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine, but it was Emperor Justinian who actually built it between 545 AD to house the remains of St. Catherine, who lived in Alexandria.

Itinerary

One of Cairo Top Tours' expert representatives will be waiting for you in the lobby of your hotel in Sharm El Sheikh to transfer you in a modern air-conditioned car and accompany you on your day trip to the Sinai Mountains and Colored Canyon.

Your day begins with a visit to Colored Canyon. It is located 90 kilometers north of Dahab, while Nuweiba is the nearest town, about 3 kilometers away. The valley is formed by colored rocks in the form of cliffs that resemble the bed of a dry river, about 800 meters long, and was formed by rainwater, winter torrents, and veins of mineral salts, which dug channels in the mountains after flowing for hundreds of years. With veins of mineral salts that create lines on its sand and limestone stones and give them crimson, orange, silver, gold, purple, red, and yellow hues, the Colored Valley is named after the colors that adorn its walls.

After that, we will start another adventure, driving to the Sinai Mountains. It is the mountain where the Lord gave Moses the Ten Commandments, according to the book of Deuteronomy in the Hebrew Bible. It is described in two places (in the books of Exodus and Kings) as “the mountain of God.". The mountain is also called the Mountain of Jehovah.

During this trip to the mountain of Sinai, one feels awed and at peace as they rise beneath the pristine Sinai sky. This excursion is an unforgettable adventure in the middle of nature and history, and we greet the sunrise at the top of the mountain in a breathtaking spiritual panorama that strikes the heart.

During these fantastic Egypt day trips in Aqaba Bay, we will drive back to Sharm El Sheikh to Nuweiba, where we will spend an hour to swim. After that, return to your accommodation by car.

Credit cards are accepted everywhere in Cairo and other major cities in Egypt. Credit cards are accepted in hotels, eateries, retail shops, pharmacies, supermarkets, and at tourist markets in Aswan and Luxor. Although American Express, Visa and Mastercard are the most common credit card brands in Egypt, we still recommend carrying cash when shopping at street markets.

Tipping is customary in Sharm El Sheikh, especially in restaurants and for tour guides. A tip of around 10% is generally appreciated.
