Overview

Amazing Full-Day Trip to Cairo from Luxor by Flight

From Luxor, you can enjoy an unforgettable experience exploring Cairo. That is, through our full-day excursion from Luxor to Cairo, you will have the opportunity to visit Dahshur.
Dahshur is situated in the southern section of Memphis' necropolis, the ancient Egyptian capital.  The pyramids of the kings of the Old and Middle Kingdom were built on this hill. The first king of the Fourth Dynasty, King Sneferu, chose the rocky plateau of Dahshur to build his first pyramid, but he did not succeed in completing it, as his first pyramid became almost broken, but he built a complete pyramid a kilometer north of the first pyramid, which he called the Red Pyramid. Nearby are pyramids dating back to the Middle Kingdom, such as the pyramid of King Amenemhat II, which is in poor condition. There is also the pyramid of King Senwosret III, surrounded by the tombs of the princesses Set Hathor and Ment.

After that we will explore together another place so famous in Cairo which is Memphis Located near the modern town of Mit Rahina, close to Cairo, its tombs were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979. Believed to have been founded by Mina, the first legendary king in 3100 BC, the ancient city of Memphis was the capital during the Early Period (about 3100-2686 BC) and the Old Kingdom (about 2668-2121 BC) and remained one of the most important cities for more than three thousand years of ancient Egyptian history. Memphis was the center of worship of the god Ptah, whose temple was one of the most important places in all of ancient Egypt. It was so important that the origin of the word “Egypt,” derived from the Greek word “aegyptos,” comes from the name of the ancient temple “Hut ka Ptah,”

The first step in your Cairo excursion will be an unforgettable visit to the city of Memphis, which was the capital during the Early Period (roughly 3100-2686 BC) and the Old Kingdom (roughly 2668-2121 BC). It is located near the modern town of Mit Rahina, near Cairo, and its tombs were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979. Memphis is thought to have been founded by Mina, the first legendary king, in 3100 BC, and it remained one of the most significant cities for more than three thousand years of ancient Egyptian history. And one of the most significant locations in all of ancient Egypt was the temple of the god Ptah, which was worshipped at Memphis. It was so significant that the name of the ancient temple, "Hut ka Ptah," is where the word "Egypt," which is derived from the Greek word "aegyptos," originated.

You will then savor a delectable lunch at a neighborhood restaurant in Cairo.

Our tour continues with a visit to the historic sites of the ancient Egyptian capital, Dahshur. On this hill were the pyramids of the Old and Middle Kingdom monarchs. Sneferu, the first king of the Fourth Dynasty, chose the rocky plateau of Dahshur to build his first pyramid. However, he was unable to finish it, as it nearly collapsed. Instead, he constructed a finished pyramid a kilometer north of the first pyramid, which he named the Red Pyramid. There are Middle Kingdom-era pyramids nearby, including the dilapidated pyramid of King Amenemhat II. King Senwosret III's pyramid is also there, encircled by the graves of the princesses Set Hathor and Ment.

Finally, we take you back to Cairo airport for your flight to Luxor.

The official and most extensively used language in Egypt is Egyptian Arabic. It is normal practice to use English for tourism, and it is taught in schools as a secondary language.

The modern Arabic name for Egypt, Misr, has its origins in the ancient Hebrew word Mizraim, with the suffix '–aim' most likely referring to two Egypts: Upper and Lower. The word can also mean fortress, perhaps a reference to the natural boundaries that have protected the country over the millennia.
