On this day of your 6-day Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan Christmas tour, you will wake up early in the morning and have breakfast at your hotel before meeting your personal Egyptologist and driver. They will accompany you on your Egypt day tours to the Giza Pyramids, Memphis, and Saqqara Necropolis.
Your first stop is the Giza Pyramids, which were built as burial tombs for ancient Egyptian kings and rulers. You will see the three massive buildings in the necropolis of Giza, including the Great Pyramid of Giza, which is the only remaining monument from the ancient Seven Wonders of the World. You can also take a one-hour camel ride in the Giza Pyramids before seeing the Great Sphinx, a mythological animal with a man's head and the body of a lion that has been used by ancient Egyptian pharaohs. You will also visit the Valley Temple, which was built to serve as a mummification temple for the body of the king before burial.
Next, you will visit the ancient city of Memphis, which was the first capital of Egypt from the time King Menes unified the two kingdoms in Upper and Lower Egypt. You will see an open-air museum that exhibits many artifacts that date back to various periods of the pharaonic era, including the massive alabaster sphinx of Memphis and the colossal statue of King Ramses II.
Afterward, you can enjoy lunch before continuing to Saqqara, the old kingdom necropolis, which has the earliest example of a stone pyramid, roughly 200 years before the pyramid of Cheops. You will see the Step Pyramid, which stands at a height of 62 meters with six stepped layers starting with a square base and the burial chamber underneath. You will also visit the Pyramid of Teti, one of the kings of the 6th dynasty, and see the scenes inscribed inside the tomb of the nobles in Saqqara that depict the daily life activities of the ancient Egyptians.
At the end of the day, you will return to your hotel in Cairo.
