Meet your tour guide after having breakfast at the hotel to start your trip to Alexandria from Cairo. Your Egyptologist guide will drive you to Alexandria in a modern car for about two hours, stopping along the way so you can take a break, relax, and possibly even stretch your legs.
You will first see Pompey's Pillar before going to The Citadel of Qaitbay, which was constructed by the Mamluk emperors on the site where Alexandria's ancient lighthouse once stood, one of the seven lost wonders of the ancient world, to protect the Mediterranean seacoast from the Ottomans. The Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa will be your next stop.
You will also be surprised by the Bibliotheca of Alexandria, which is the center of learning and scientific research in the ancient world. You will be taken to see the St. Mark's Church, one of the oldest churches in Africa, and Alexandria's historic downtown, where you can take a stroll through the past. Visit the neighborhood markets on foot. Baroque-style designs as well as Italian and French-style buildings can be found in the local architecture. We'll take you to the oldest market district in Mansheya so you can see the old-fashioned ladies' markets (zan'et elsetat), which are located in areas with incredibly small and winding streets. Here, everyone can purchase their wedding and engagement jewelry at the gold market.
The Abbo Elabbas Mosque, the largest and most beautiful mosque in the city, is the next stop on the tour. Outside of it is an old amusement park where kids can ride amusement park rides and eat candy floss. The corniche and the old harbor, on the other hand, are where you can see old fishing boats and people fishing. Finally, savor your seafood lunch in a prestigious neighborhood eatery. Following that, you will be driven back to Cairo while taking a break.
