Prepare yourself for this momentous day, as your tour of the Giza Pyramids will bring you up close to the Egyptian masterpiece known as the Great Pyramid of Giza.
Enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet at the hotel before meeting your certified Egyptologist to begin your first trip to Cairo. Today, we will visit the ancient kingdom necropolis in Saqqara and the Giza Plateau. We will also see the location of the former capital of Egypt, which was established approximately 5000 years ago.
Begin your tour of the Giza Pyramids to witness the enormous constructions created by Egypt's greatest pharaohs, Cheops, Chephren, and Mycerinus, during the 4th dynasty. The three pyramids are thought to have been constructed in accordance with a star system, with the main entrance facing northward to act as a tomb for the semi-god monarchs. Your tour guide will go into detail regarding the history and construction methods of the enormous pyramids, the largest of which belonged to King Cheops.
Go to the highest point to experience camel riding among the Giza Pyramids (optional), and your Bedouin guide will take amazing, challenging pictures for you.
We will now witness the 73-meter-tall Great Sphinx, a representation of a man-headed lion, and we will also visit the Valley Temple, another intriguing structure within King Chephren's burial site.
Your driver will transport you to the Saqqara Necropolis, approximately 45 minutes from Cairo, where you will witness the Step Pyramid—built by renowned architect Imhotep for his monarch, Djoser of the 3rd dynasty—the oldest stone pyramid in Egypt. The construction of the royal burial tombs went through a transitional stage with the pyramid.
We have the opportunity to visit the pyramid of Teti, the nation's sixth-dynasty ruler, as well as his son-in-law's tomb, the Kagemni tomb, which is one of the most impressive noble tombs due to the abundance of offerings and hunting scenes preserved within its walls.
Enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the high-quality eateries before travelling to Memphis, also known as Mit Rahina, to visit the outdoor museum featuring its astounding artefacts, particularly the enormous statue of Ramses II, the new kingdom pharaoh who is the owner of the striking Abu Simbel Temples in Aswan, and the alabaster sphinx of Memphis.
Return to your hotel and spend the night there.
