After enjoying a delicious breakfast at the hotel, you will meet your Egyptologist to begin your exciting day of tours of Cairo. To begin with, you will take an amazing tour of the Giza Pyramids, which are the oldest monuments in the world. The Giza Necropolis is regarded as one of the holiest sites in ancient Egyptian history, and you will see the enormous pyramid built by King Cheops, known as Khufu in the Hieroglyphics. Your tour guide will transport you back in time as they explain every aspect of ancient Egyptian religion and its impact on the people who lived there. Nearly all of the amazing monuments that the ancient Egyptians built were constructed for the benefit of their gods.
If you want to feel the beauty and sense of the Sahara, you can also take advantage of the optional camel ride tour at the Giza Pyramids.
Explore the Valley Temple of Chephren, the surviving pyramid complex of King Cheops, the only fully constructed pyramid in all of Egypt. The Great Sphinx, which is part of the complex, was carved for the same king and represents the mythological man-headed lion that the ancient Egyptians used to represent the king's wisdom and authority.
Visit the Citadel of Saladin, Cairo's medieval stronghold constructed in the twelfth century by the renowned Sultan Saladin, to complete your tours of Coptic and Islamic Cairo. The enormous towers will astound you and inside is one of the most exquisite mosques.
Next, we'll embark on a tour of Coptic Cairo, where you'll see the Hanging Church, a Coptic Orthodox church built atop the ruins of the Roman Fortress of Babylon, in the well-known Old Cairo neighborhood.
You will be taken back to your hotel for an overnight stay once your day tour is over.
