The valley temple is one of Egypt's oldest temples and it was constructed to help execute the ritual known as the opening of the mouth, which was meant to help King Chephren's Mummy eat, drink, and communicate regularly in the afterlife. It's located close to the Sphinx, which makes it an important site.
