The Miami-based Royal Caribbean International has received the sixth cruise ship in a series of ships bought from French builders Chantiers de l'Atlantique. The ship, named Utopia of the Seas, is the only one in the Oasis class to run on LNG.
The new construction is 1,188 feet (362.1 meters) long, 210 feet (64 meters) wide, has a draft of 30 feet (9.3 meters), and can accommodate 2,400 crew members and 6,800 passengers on 18 decks. Its gross tonnage is 227,700. Along with 2,867 guest accommodations, including a spacious suite that can accommodate ten people, the ship offers an extensive array of dining options, lounges, bars, and retail stores.
Recreational amenities include a mini golf course, an ice skating rink, full-size basketball and volleyball courts, a water park, a rock climbing wall, spas, fitness centers, a surfing simulator, a jogging track, a casino, game rooms, and theatres with seating for 1,400 people. There are 24 lifts positioned throughout the ship that allow guests to access any one of the 16 decks.
