Egypt is famous for its marvelous pyramids. The sources cite at least 118 Egyptian pyramids, in  Egypt Day tour you can visit and see the oldest structures on earth and history and one of the seven wonders of the world.  There are 118 Pyramids, but 80 are in Sudan now. The earliest known Egyptian pyramids are found at Saqqara. They were built by the ancient Egyptians as a tomb for their Pharaohs and their queens.

Giza has three Pyramids that are included in our Egypt Tours, the first and biggest one is the Great Pyramid which is one of the oldest surviving ancient Pyramids in Egypt. It is also known by the name Pyramid of Khufu or the Pyramid of Cheops. 2560 BC, this Pyramid is the largest among them and is 138.5 meters tall. It is believed to have been built with about 2 million casting blocks along with limestone and granite. The pyramid is the only Pyramid to have a swivel door at the entrance.

Inside this Egyptian Pyramid, you can find a royal chamber that includes his possessions. The second pyramid is called Khafre: the second largest pyramid of the Giza pyramids between two other pyramids.  You can find more detailed information through Egypt travel packages showing the most attractive sites that you shouldn’t miss while visiting Egypt.

Khufu’s son- Khafre also has a massive pyramid called the Pyramid of Chephren. It was constructed in 2570 BC on a bedrock giving it a higher elevation and thus having a more pointed top. When you visit the Giza plateau, you can find the Sphinx, and Valley Temple within the same complex. The Great Sphinx is a statue of a huge human body with a lion’s head carved out of natural rock that guards the Pyramid of Khufu. The third and smallest pyramid is Menkaure, It was built for Menkaure- the grandson of Khufu. Menkaure Pharaoh was the last Pharaoh to build a pyramid, and It was built using white limestone. This this a glimpse of the Great Giza Pyramids in Egypt which were built for the great potent kings of Egypt.

There is another Pyramid in Saqqara of King Djoser, and the length of the pyramid is 62 meters. The ancient Egyptians used to build tombs called mastabas earlier with flat roofs. Imhotep stacked 6 mastabas on top of each other above the ground to form a structure called the Step Pyramid or the Layer Pyramid. If you are going to a port from the ports of Egypt, we will offer you Egypt shore Excursions to enable you to see the marvelous Egyptian attractions with our professional Egyptologists.

Egypt Tours FAQ

Read top Egypt tours FAQs

Egypt is home to many pyramids, but the most famous and well-known are the ones located on the Giza Plateau near Cairo. There are three main pyramids at Giza, which are among the most iconic and recognizable pyramids in the world. These are:

The Great Pyramid of Giza (Pyramid of Khufu or Cheops): This is the largest and most famous pyramid in Egypt. It was built for Pharaoh Khufu (also known as Cheops) and is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

The Pyramid of Khafre: This pyramid is slightly smaller than the Great Pyramid and is associated with Pharaoh Khafre, who was Khufu's son. It is recognizable by the casing stones at the top that still partially remain.

The Pyramid of Menkaure: This is the smallest of the three pyramids at Giza and is associated with Pharaoh Menkaure. It is located near the other two pyramids.

While these three pyramids are the most famous, there are many other pyramids scattered across Egypt, particularly in areas like Saqqara, Dahshur, and various regions of Upper Egypt. Some of these pyramids are smaller and less well-preserved than the Giza pyramids, but they are significant archaeological and historical sites in their own right.
