Temple of Debod
The temple dedicated to Debod was situated in the small town of the same name, Debod, in Lower Nubia, the "land of gold," in southern Egypt, close to the point where the Nile River meets the Tropic of Cancer.
The Debod Temple was built in honor of the Egyptian god Amun. It is one of the few ancient Egyptian temples that have been preserved outside of Egypt. The temple was built during the reign of Pharaoh Ptolemy II. Ancient Egyptians believed that the temples served as the Gods' actual residences.
