Aswan Airport

Aswan is the southernmost province in Egypt. It is located in Upper Egypt, 220 km south of Luxor and 890 km south of Cairo, at the foot of the Nile Valley. The climate of the city is hot all year long. It is the 3rd biggest city in Cairo and the biggest in Upper Egypt. The city's geographical nature has changed in a specific location because of the construction of the Aswan High Dam, which almost flooded several temples, like the Abu Simbel temples and the Temple of Philae, during the 60s of the twentieth century, but thanks to the efforts of UNESCO, the temples were rescued and moved to different locations in one of the toughest tests in the history of modern architecture.

From the dawn of history, Aswan used to be known as Swenett or Swan, which implies a sale. It was placed on the central commerce path between Egypt and the south and was the principal provider of gold, ivory, and countless other products and goods. The city also has a very divine relationship as they praised God Khnum, who was identified as the fertile god according to the ancient Egyptian religion, as it was believed that Aswan was the main origin of the Nile River and later succeeded by Goddess Isis of magic. The city has granite quarries from where the huge stone blocks, pillars, and obelisks were cut and transported to be part of the gigantic structures built by the kings of ancient Egypt throughout the old kingdom, the new kingdom, and the new kingdom, like the magnificent pyramids in Giza and the temples within the funerary complexes in Saqqara Necropolis, the Valley Temple of King Chephren, which dates back to the 4th dynasty, and many temples in Luxor, Aswan, and the Nile Valley, like the Temple of Philae and Kom Ombo Temple of Sobek and the Temple of Horus at Edfu.

We advise choosing Luxor over Aswan if you have five days to spend in Egypt because Luxor is home to more significant ancient Egyptian monuments than Aswan.
