Tomb of Abu Darda
The Abu Darda Tomb An important companion of the Prophet, Abu Darda, is buried in this tomb in Damascus. His spouse Umm al-Darda is also interred nearby. Abid Darda's grave is situated inside his mosque in Damascus, Syria. If the original tomb was in Damascus to begin with, it seems improbable that it would have survived the chaotic Seljuq, Ayyubid, and Mamluk periods. The tomb is situated on the eastern side of the prayer hall, and the modest mosque is only accessible during scheduled prayer times. The tomb was dated by archaeologist Carl Watzinger to 1733, indicating that it was constructed as a cenotaph during the Ottoman era.
