Early in the morning, our Egypt Tailor Made tour guide will pick you up from your Cairo hotel in an air-conditioned car and drive you "approximately 95km" to the Fayoum oasis. It was regarded by the ancient Egyptians as a focus of cult adoration for the crocodile god Sobek. There are 200 or so of these enormous waterwheels scattered across the oasis. The Great Seven Waterwheels, one of the Fayoum oasis icons, will be seen when you arrive.
Then you'll see "Qaron's Lake," which is also thought to be the oldest natural lake in the world and is the largest salt water lake in Egypt. Around the lake and in the surrounding area, you will see various fruits and vegetables and a spectacular panorama of winter migrant birds. After a hot day of sightseeing, it's the ideal location to unwind.
