Based on the agreed pick-up time with your tour operator, our accredited tour guide will meet you anywhere in Cairo to accompany you aboard a private air-conditioned vehicle through your overnight tour to Alexandria from Cairo. The drive takes about 2.5 hours including a stop for stretching your leg, you will enjoy the trip to Alexandria as your tour guide will provide you with a historical background along the route until you arrive.
Upon arrival, you will start your excursions in Alexandria by visiting the famous Pompey's Pillar, an architectural wonder which is placed at the center of the remains of the Alexandrian Serapeum. The Serapeum was a great Temple during the time of the Greeks in Egypt, mostly built during the Ptolemaic kingdom in Egypt, and was devoted to God Serapis who was thought to be the guardian of Alexandria.
Proceed now to visit one of the largest Roman catacombs, the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa which is believed to be cut for royal Pharaonic purposes and later has been romanized. The catacombs were used until the end of the 4th century A.D and were later abandoned. Six meters in diameter and about10 meters deep, the surrounding cylindrical water well is the staircase leading down to the 3 floors of catacombs.
Now you will be taken to the main corniche street overlooking the Mediterranean to have a blissful lunch meal composed of the freshest seafood in one of the most luxurious restaurants in Alexandria, you will be enjoying the view of the old harbor while having your lunch and drinking the lemon mint juice before being transferred to your hotel for check-in and overnight.
